Kenyan recruitment agencies- Some perspectives.

Employment in Kenya has gotten quite murky nowadays. The number of job markets has been increasing while the available Kenyan job vacancies have become stagnant or increasing at a modest pace. Many companies, in a bid to save on time and recruitment costs, use recruitment agencies in order to get qualified staff for a vacancy. Many Kenyan job websites and blogs have an online portal where candidates can upload their CVs. The Kenyan recruitment agencies cater for both the high end clients and the low end budget clients.

Recruitment agencies that cater for high end clients includes the big four auditing and advisory services firms of PWC Kenya, Ernst& Young, Deloitte and KPMG. Manpower services is also a major recruitment agency that falls into this category. Other Kenyan recruitment agencies include the Geographic link, Staff-Kenya, and the online job seeking websites. Such sites include myafrican career, brightermonday.com, www.careerpoint.com (which also runs the staff-Kenya corporate staffing services).

When using the Kenyan recruitment agencies, its important that you exercise some care. For instance, some of the websites sell the CVs for anything of between kshs.10,000 and Kshs. 100,000 depending on the number of CVs needed and the notice time. While its perfectly good for the Kenyan job websites and blogs to sell the CVs, it is also ethical for them to inform you of places where your CV has been forwarded. Some of the employers are also known to post fictitious jobs on the sites and then demand for an upfront interview/facilitation fees on the recent jobs they advertised.

However, the job sites and blogs are really invaluable, as they help job candidates to apply for the jobs instantly. A site such as www.careerpoint.com also provides invaluable career advice on their articles on the Kenyan work environment.
